- The gate drags or scrapes on the driveway at one end. The hinge weld has stretched or cracked, dropping the leading edge. Patching the scraped concrete does not fix it. The hinge post or hinge plate is the problem, and welding is the fix.
- The opener runs but the gate barely moves. The drive arm or rack mounting has pulled away from the gate frame. The motor is working against a weld that failed. Continuing to run it that way burns out gears and boards faster than any other single failure.
- You can see daylight through a joint that used to be tight. On a welded gate, gaps through the frame or hinge welds mean the steel has started separating. It only gets worse, and Northeast Tarrant County wind loads do not help.
- The gate sags when open but lines up when closed. That is the classic symptom of a failing hinge weld on a LiftMaster swing system.
